Cupping

Cupping therapy is part of traditional Chinese medicine that has been used for over 1000 years to eliminate pain, headaches, respiratory conditions, digestive disorders, gynecological conditions, and reduce adhesions. It is especially effective for chronic back pain that radiates from the neck, shoulders, and hips. It is used to reduce chronic, tension headaches and for conditions such as tight IT bands. Cupping therapy effects tissues that typically need more than massage. It brings nutrient rich blood flow to regions that have been fibrotic, or stagnant for years. With this blood flow, the body can then heal and return to its natural, pain-free state.

During a cupping session, your doctor applies flame to specialty glass cups. This creates a suction as the cup is applied to the skin. Depending on your condition, your doctor will either let the cups sit for 5-7 minutes, or will gently glide them along the skin. After your session, you can expect to have cupping marks on the skin. This is completely normal and should be expected to fade within a couple days.

Cupping is frequently combined with acupuncture to get the best results.

Cupping therapy is used to treat the following conditions:
Chronic neck pain
Migraines
Back pain
Hip pain
Tight IT bands
Respiratory illness
Adhesions
Gynecological concerns
Digestive concerns
